Hudson Bar & Books
Bar and Books has venues in Prague, Warsaw and three in New York. They pride themselves as “The most refreshingly civilized places to meet®”. And they definitely live up to their expectation. The Hudson Bar and Books on Hudson Street in New York opened in 1990 and offers an excellent drink list, a small menu as well as fine cigars, for those wishing to enjoy a smoke with their glass of excellent whisky. The décor is dark, wooden and cozy and there is a small outdoor terrace.
The Whiskey Ward
This welcoming and unconventional bar on Essex Street is specialized in excellent Bourbons, Irish Whiskies, Single Malts as well as some rare and new Whiskies. Come between 5pm and 8pm to take advantage of their Happy Hour. If this is too early for a Whisky, choose from the outstanding beer menu. A lot of American Steakhouses are famed not only for their great food but also for a legendary drink list. Some of them are specialized in fine whiskies and so is this long-standing Keens Steakhouse on 36th Street. There are four traditionally furnished banquet rooms for up to 300 guests, which can be booked for special events and occasions.
The Campbell Apartment
This former office and salon of John W. Campbell is worth a visit for it’s splendid and luxurious interior alone. The fully renovated space boosts a one-of-a-kind decor with huge stained glass windows, high ceilings, dark wood and cozy leather seating. No need to say that their whisky list is just as mind-blowing as the appearance of this legendary institution.
This bar in Donald Trump’s Trump Parc building is a favorite among Whisky-lovers. The bright and French-styled interior with cork walls and ceilings, comfortable leather armchairs and sofas is inviting and relaxing. This is a great place to come with a group of friends or a date, as apart from the Whiskies the drink list also boosts excellent cocktails, beers and a fine wine selection. Try their signature cocktail Midnight Manhattan and choose from the small snacks menu. On summer evenings, sit outside and enjoy the breathtaking view of Central Park.
