Romantic Trip to Manchester |
|||||||
If you're planning a romantic getaway in England you should take into consideration the idea of spending a couple of days in Manchester. Recently named one of the most romantic cities in the U.K., Manchester offers you many different possibilities in order to enjoy some precious moments with your partner. Let's start talking about some activities, which you can do during the day. Castlefield is an ideal place for a walk in the sun. It is a inner city conservation area with many canals, bridges and old warehouses, with surprising views and a magical atmospheres. On the waterside there are many bars where you will be able to sip some drinks while watching the canal cruises, if you don't want to enjoy one of them yourself. In case you're looking for a more natural location, to hide from the world with your beloved and to breathe some fresh air, Heaton Park will be perfect for you, even though a real romantic isolation is easier to reach on the Rivington Pike, which is unfortunately a couple of miles away from the city centre. On the one hand, if you like sports, and climbing a hill isn't enough for you, the Silver Blades Ice Rink will satisfy all your needs. You can choose between many ice disciplines and you can also watch an ice dancing show or an ice hockey match. Furthermore, in the evening, you can have some fun with the Disco Session or at one of its crazy foam parties. On the other hand, if you like walking but you prefer to do it in front of some shop windows, Manchester won't disappoint you. This city is renowned for its shopping and it offers many different options. King Street and Cross Street are the perfect places for high level shopping, with their many designer boutiques, whereas the Northern Quarter is known for its alternative style, its independent shops and its small and unique restaurants and bars. But what if it rains? The Arndale Centre will welcome you and it will entertain you with its countless stores. Not so far away you can also take shelter in Selfridges, recently voted the best department store in the world. When you're for the first time in a new city, one of the hardest things to do is to find a good restaurant with a romantic atmosphere, where you can calm down and relax with your lover. Being aware of this problem I'll give you some suggestions for a candle light dinner for the two of you. Cloud 23 is probably the best place in town to enjoy a romantic dinner while admiring an incredible view on the city. It is indeed on the 23rd floor of the Beetham Tower and its menu contains many delicious sharing plates. Another idea could be dining at the River Restaurant, which will enchant your lover with its view on the river and maybe also with its grilled native lobsters. Finally, if you aren't afraid of exaggerating, the French at The Midland would be a good choice for you. Recently revamped, it has a brilliant chef, who selected the best ingredients and combinations in order to give to you the perfect menu. If after dinner you aren't tired and you still want to go out, you will be spoilt for choice, especially if theatres are your thing. From the more classical Palace Theatre, Opera House and Lowry Theatre to the funnier Comedy Store and Frog and Bucket Comedy Club, you will certainly find a show which matches with your tastes. |
